Fund-raising Art Events

The Create Trust is keen that funding for the work should in part be generated through creative events. These creative forums serve as a platform for artists to show their work, as well as a means of generating funding.

In July 2005 we invited a group of professional photographers to contribute work to a fund raising exhibition, exploring the 'family, friends, home' theme from Sri Lanka. The show took place at Crunch in west London and was a great success.

On August 23rd 2005 we took part in the Paradise cricket evening, organised at the Ealing cricket club, a fund-raising event for Sri Lankan tsunami victims. We exhibited photographs which were auctioned by Eddie Izzard and showed a selection of children's images projected onto the cricket scoreboard.

September 7th 2005 we presented a night of live music at The Cobden Club with leading acoustic artists, including Sophie Barker and Sanderson Pitch.

August 6th 2006 - DJ's & BBQ in Ireland. Lydia Connolly organized a great night in Clonakilty Nr. Cork. TNT DJ’d and Der Spainztahs played.

August 31st 2006 we organised a second gig at The Cobden Club. It's becoming an annual event! It was a Rocky affair, with three great young bands - The New Shapes, The Family Machine and Claire Nicolson.

October 17 2006 we held an evening of contemporary performance poetry with some of the finest, coolest poets around.

We are keen to collaborate with artists on art projects and welcome their involvement in the programmes overseas. Artists wishing to become involved can contact us via email.
